About Hannah, Founder of Honour Through Movement

I’m a LYT Method Yoga Teacher and I love to share my passion for movement with my students!

I am lucky to share my love of yoga with my husband, who practices nearly as much as me. When COVID hit we studied online yoga teacher training to deepen our knowledge. Neither of us thought of teaching; we just wanted to delve deeper beyond the poses and learn more of the philosophy.

I was working at my local high school when I was asked by the health and wellbeing lead to put yoga on for staff, and it felt like the right time to explore all my learnings and share them. As this continued my confidence grew, so I opened a local community class.

I decided to take another teacher training as my first one only scratched the surface. I wanted to know more about the body and how we could support it with functional movement for life. I came across LYT Method yoga and loved the sense of education that they offered: practising and taking yoga into everyday life by moving optimally with an emphasis on postural alignment. This training elevated my personal practice and my teaching, and I want to help people gain mobility and move well for longevity. I am now taking my level 2 teacher training in the LYT Method learning more about anatomy and movement.

My Story

My introduction to yoga was in a school hall in my town with a wonderful teacher. I had no expectations as yoga was not something I had ever considered, but my husband encouraged me to go.

I was amazed; the wonderful stretch it gave my body, finding space in areas that had previously felt tight due to other forms of exercise, along with finding a sense of calm in my mind. What was a savasana and why did it close out a class? I kept going, I built up lovely friendships and attended more restorative practises, even immersing myself in weekend retreats.

I suffer with low mood and anxiety which escalated when I was post-partum, and yoga became a big part of my life, practising daily to regain the balance I needed in my body and mind.

About Matt

I have enjoyed fitness since I was twelve when my parents bought a home multi-gym. Call it fate, that journey led me to a gym in 2005 where I met Hannah. She introduced me to Pilates, and when I had a curiosity about yoga in 2016 I urged her to attend a local class, which she loved. So, to YouTube I went in search of “man yoga”, lest I find a feminine experience. I, a fit and conditioned gym goer, was humbled. So much of my physiology was weak & vulnerable, and since then yoga has allowed me to safely and consistently strengthen and optimise for longevity and wellness. LYT yoga is, in my view, the world leader in yoga and better movement patterns for all ages and others levels, and I see it as our responsibility to make this available to our community.
